Yesterday I met Angelique Houtkamp. What a glorious day.
I ventured into Darlinghurst with my good friend and tatted up darling Tania.
We powdered our noses and waited in line peering nervously into the windows
of Outre gallery saying to one- another.. " Can you see her??.."
Eventually we entered the gallery. To our right artworks from contemporary
artists such as Mark Ryden adorned the walls. To the left was where the
Angelique artworks were showcased. Beautiful ink and oil with tea stains.
Lovely ladies as dead creatures and some amazing photographs of the artist
herself.
Soon enough it was our turn to meet the one-and-only. We purchased two soft
cover editions of "Tattoo Mystique". We very politely asked if we could have her
previous book " Tattoo Darling" signed as well. She agreed. She was also kind
enough to pose for a photograph with both Tangerine and I.
She was very polite and beaming heavily when both Tania and I were talking to
her. I think she really liked us.
As you can probably gather from my profile picture..I am absolutely enamored
with Ms Houtkamp. I think she is a greatly talented artist and a fab role model
for all ladies worldwide.
This encounter with such an icon reminded me how much I enjoy tattoo culture
how much I need tattoos. I need to get serious..
Tans and I skipped off into the city with a smile from one ear to the other xx
